Anacostia Arts Center Presents Annual Afro House: Spirit Fest in Celebration of Black History Month

Washington, D.C. – The Anacostia Arts Center is proud to announce the return of Afro House: Spirit Fest, its annual signature event celebrating Black History Month. Taking place on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM, this year’s festival will provide a much-needed space for rest, reflection, and rejuvenation, bringing together local artists, wellness practitioners, and the community for an afternoon of healing and celebration.

In keeping with the Anacostia Arts Center’s mission to support small businesses, artists, and cultural organizations in revitalizing Historic Anacostia, Afro House: Spirit Fest highlights the intersection of mental health, spiritual wellness, and creative expression. Attendees will experience:

  • Activations featuring local creatives, including Coyaba Dance Theater, Grounded, and Blk Flower Market
  • A Creative Marketplace featuring Black-owned businesses and artisans
  • Music by DJ RBI & DJ Artist to set the tone for a joyful, restorative gathering
  • Wellness Activations led by Bold Yoga and other community partners

“In a time when the world is moving faster than ever, we want to give our community a much-needed break. Afro House is a time for folks to come together to rest during Black History Month. Our partnerships with Grounded, Bold Yoga, Coyaba Dance Theater, Blk Flower Market, DJ Artist, and DJ RBI are the engine of this effort—celebrating the wide array of Black wellness leaders in D.C.,” said Jessica Randolph, Associate Creative Director of the Anacostia Arts Center.

As a free and open-to-the-public event, Afro House: Spirit Fest welcomes all who seek to honor Black history while embracing the present through intentional rest and cultural celebration.
