This new effort to fund minority businesses has big-name backer, ‘real teeth’
Mike Smith believes the future of renewable energy fits inside a lunchbox. Now he’s finally getting the means to realize that vision.
His minority-owned facilities management company, District-based Smith & Sons LLC, is moving production of its lunchbox-sized eHub50 solar power generator and battery to D.C.’s Ward 8. He is hunting for 1,000 square feet of warehouse space — with the option to expand up to 10,000 square feet if things go well — and hopes to add five to 10 new employees for that new operation.
