Sowmya Pelluru

Chief Brand and Communications Officer

Sowmya Pelluru serves as Wacif’s Chief Brand and Communications Officer. Prior to Wacif, Sowmya worked full-time on her start up, manakii, a D2C women’s underwear company on a mission to redefine the way women think about empowerment and impact. In tandem with being a founder, Sowmya also ran a brand strategy consulting studio that served impact-driven and minority-owned businesses.

Before manakii, Sowmya was the Senior Creative Strategist for Wayfair North America on their Brand Marketing team. There, she built brands from the ground up, planned and executed needle-moving testing campaign strategies, and challenged Wayfair’s perception of emotion in the brand.

She currently serves as the Entrepreneurship Academic Director at Georgetown School of Continuing Studies, where she is developing an inclusive curriculum and teaching an intensive course. She holds a MA from Georgetown University and a BA from the University of South Carolina.

Outside of her daily career, she is passionate about acting, performing, writing, and film and loves combining her entrepreneurial spirit with her love for storytelling and human centric design.
